About us

About

Hillel Deutschland – jüdische Bildungsinitiative in Deutschland e.V. is a nonprofit association that brings together Jewish adults ages 18-35. We are a people-focused organization, built on relationships, always striving for kindness and respect. We are sustained by the Torah and what it gives us – rituals, learning, critical thinking, and personal growth. We actively pursue justice, by creating inclusive Jewish spaces and engaging in Tikkun Olam.

What we
stand for

Hillel said: Be like the students of Aaron, loving peace and pursuing peace, loving human beings and drawing them close to the Torah.
Mishnah Avot 1:12

Mission

We bring together young Jews to find spaces of belonging, live more fulfilling lives, and to make a positive impact on their communities and larger society.

Vision

Empowered communities of young Jews actively participating in community building, Jewish education, leadership development, and social action. Young Jews who are proud of their Jewish knowledge and identities and commit to sustaining their Jewish communities.

Our Impact

We engage over 1500 young Jews annually around Germany. Most of our work takes place in the regions of Berlin, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, Frankfurt am Main, North-Rhine Westphalia, Bremen, and Stuttgart. We strive to transform our target group from passive to active; from isolated to connected; and from self-doubting to thriving.

Hillel Deutschland e.V. is a not-for-profit, membership-based association

We have chosen to operate this way in order to involve a larger segment of the community in the workings of the organization and decision-making. Our members nominate and elect a Board at our annual meeting and play a role in setting program priorities and fundraising strategy all year round.

Hillel exists for YOU, and by joining, you can play a role in making this work sustainable.
