Who are the androgynes of the Talmud? Join us to discuss canonical Jewish sources that grapple with sex and gender. No previous experience with Hebrew necessary. Class will be taught in English. Max Strassfeld is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern California. They are the author of the book Trans Talmud: Androgynes and Eunuchs in Rabbinic Literature, which was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Awards and won an American Academy of Religion's book prize for excellence in the study of religion. They are currently the Gerhard Casper fellow at the American Academy in Berlin.
